Jeff Nisewanger has also covered this issue:
While I was reviewing and testing EVgo's new Baker, CA site upgrade, I decided to demonstrate and explain an issue with early Bolt EVs. The new high-power CCS cords are simply too heavy for the CCS port, causing lock actuator and communications issues.
I believe this is an issue only with the first delivery Bolt EVs, and I'm not aware of this issue on any Bolt EVs made in 2017 or later. I think this is something that GM should consider offering a recall on because it does negatively affect the customer experience, and it can lead to unnecessary complaints and failure reports at various public charging locations.
