Eastleigh is known as a brisk commercial hub in the capital, Nairobi, but veiled in the vibrance are the hushed tales of suffering for young girls and women taken advantage of and turned into sex slaves. The men, who mostly live abroad, promise marriage and a better life, only to abandon them and return to their families in the West. The practice is known loosely as vacation marriages. But it's deeply intertwined in a web of crime and broken traditional practices, that have left these girls with deep-seated scars.
