Al Manich castle offers glimpses of rich Omani Culture

Muscat: The Al Manich castle in Al Dhahirah governorate is a historic destination that offers glimpses of Oman’s rich culture.

The castle is located in the Wilayat of Dhank in Dhahirah governorate, around 270 km away from Muscat governorate.

The Ministry of Heritage and Culture has made great efforts to rehabilitate the castle. The fort’s restoration began in 2013 and an estimated OMR400,000 was spent in the first quarter of 2016.
The restoration works included engineering and photographic documentation, cleaning and searching for foundations, followed by the restoration and the addition of electricity and air conditioning. Public facilities such as toilets, guard rooms and tourist guides were also added.
The materials used in the restoration are mud, flat stones, cut mountain stones, palm trunks, teak wood, gypsum, in addition to modern materials that was used for reinforcement.
