That’s the expectation of European football expert Paolo Bandini, who was speaking on the ESPN FC podcast. Higuain is being linked with a January move to Stamford Bridge, despite the fact he is on loan from Juventus at AC Milan. Juve are desperate to offload the Argentina international due to his big wages, and Milan are reluctant to buy him at the end of the season, particularly if they miss out on Champions League qualification - which is a real possibility. Therefore, if the Blues stump up the right price, Higuain could be lining up in the Premier League by the end of the month. Asked how much of an upgrade Higuain would be on flop Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata, Bandini replied: “He’s a drastically different player, Higuain is a goalscorer. “It’s interesting because he’s actually not scored goals, funnily enough, this season in Serie A. “He’s having his worst season ever in Italian football, certainly, and the knock on him in Italy is that he spends too much time dropping deep. “[He spends] too much time trying to help the team at Milan because they’re not getting the service to him, he’s working too hard for the team and not putting himself in those positions in the area to score goals. “But his career tells us he’s a goalscorer. “Certainly under Maurizio Sarri again, he scored 36 goals that year (2015/16), the most prolific season of any player ever in Serie A. “You’ve got a coach who knows how to get the most out of him. “In those terms, I think he would score goals at Chelsea for sure.” Higuain first moved to Europe from River Plate in 2007, joining Real Madrid for around £8m and going on to score 121 goals in 264 matches for Los Blancos during a period in which they won three league titles and a Copa del Rey - although they could not conquer the Champions League. In 2013 he moved to Napoli, where he became a crucial figure, scoring 91 times in 146 matches, including an incredible final campaign under Sarri. He then made a £75m switch to Juventus in 2016, and despite 55 goals in 105 games, he was offloaded to Milan in the summer to help make room on the wagebill for new signing Cristiano Ronaldo - his former Real team-mate.
