(exclusive) EDDIE HEARN admits: "We almost gave up on Wilder. Fury or Whyte has higher possibility"
Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder: Eddie Hearn admits he’s ‘almost given up’ fight, believes Tyson Fury rematch will happen eventually
The promoter explained he's not even getting a response from the American’s camp
Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn told talkSPORT he’s “almost given up” on making the Deontay Wilder title fight happen.
The unified heavyweight world champion’s representative is currently attempting to lock down an opponent for a bout this year with four men known to be on the shortlist.

Deontay Wilder was AJ’s first choice, with Tyson Fury second, Dillian Whyte third and Jarrell Miller fourth.
Negotiating with the first three is proving to be troublesome, leading fight fans to question the British team’s motivation to actually make the big fights happen.
Hearn responded to this criticism, telling H&J on talkSPORT: “If you think I don’t wanna make those fights you must be mad.
“There’s no fight I want more in boxing than Joshua against Wilder because it’s the undisputed heavyweight world championship.
“Part of me as a Brit wants to see Joshua against Fury because I think that’s another great fight, but it’s definitely not for the want of trying.”
Talks for Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder initially collapsed last year, with the American then pursuing a bout with Tyson Fury instead.
Their clash ended in a disputed draw at the end of 2018, prompting rematch negotiations which are currently taking place.
As a result, Wilder’s team are seemingly not interested in Joshua at present, despite Eddie Hearn publicly declaring that he would be willing to offer them a 60/40 purse split.
“I will say this, the Wilder fight is extremely frustrating,” Hearn continued, “We cannot even get a response from their team.
“It’s not like poor offers were made, we talk about 60/40. Tens of millions of dollars, but from the Wilder side we don’t even get a response.
“Fury’s a different kettle of fish. We do speak and I do believe Fury wants to fight Anthony Joshua.
“Whether we see it next I’m not so sure, but I do believe at some point that fight will happen.
“Wilder I’ve almost given up on because when they don’t even come back to you I don’t know what else you can do.”
