Liverpool sure made things hard for themselves during Saturday's win over Crystal Palace. Not only did the Reds concede the opening goal at Anfield, but after going 2-1 ahead through Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino they conceded a cheap equaliser. Palace centre-back James Tomkins was left completely unmarked at a corner and rose highest to head past Alisson. A second goal from Salah and Sadio Mane's tidy finish then made it 4-2, but just when Jurgen Klopp's men looked like they were cruising, Max Meyer scored a third for the visitors. Liverpool managed to hold on, though, to further tighten their grip on top spot in the Premier League. Something that didn't help was James Milner's red card in the 89th minute, at which point Liverpool were only winning 3-2. A loose pass from Jordan Henderson forced Milner to stretch and he produced a nasty-looking foul on Wilfried Zaha. Referee Jon Moss had no choice but to award a second yellow card. Milner had no objections with the sending off as he trudged down the tunnel and he'll be thankful to his teammates for seeing out victory. It was only the Englishman's third red card of his career, yet there was something rather remarkable about it that's unheard of in the Premier League. Incredibly, it turns out Moss used to teach Milner at school and was his football coach, which you can see in the image below. Milner was captain for his school team managed by Moss and now, some 20 years later, the 33-year-old has been sent off by his old teacher. How's that for a quirky story? A one-match ban now awaits Milner following his red card, which is far from ideal for Liverpool as they're currently without first-choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
