Dairy and meat/ fish/ poultry no longer have their own section in Canada’s new 2019 Food Guide, released yesterday. Since the 1940’s, there has been a HUGE emphasis on dairy in Canada’s food guide. When did these big changes start taking place? What is the significance of these changes? Also, there are recommendations to limit processed foods, including processed meats, such as sausages and deli meats, which are classified as Group 1 Carcinogens by the World Health Organization.
