PFA Inc KOR LOK Installation Preloading Adjustment - Hydraulic Locking Cylinder Preload Made Easy.

After preparing the Preloading Hydraulic Locking Cylinder for installation, the PFA's KOR-LOK Side-Action system can be easily mounted and adjusted to set preload. If preload changes are desired, this is easily accomplished by loosening the Jam Nut and turning the cylinder. Threaded adjustment often allows for changes and improvements to part quality while the mold is in the press.
In this video the Hydraulic Locking Cylinder is mounted in the flange prior to installation, which was a nice option for this smaller tool. Often the mounting plate - square or round flange (SFC or RFC) is mounted in position on the mold and the rod end screw (AS) is inserted into the mating t-slot coupler (AC) through the large threaded hole in the flange, while the cylinder is in the extended set position. The cylinder is then threaded into the hole and full engagement and adjustment may proceed as shown.
The threaded arrangement allows for easy accommodation of manufacturing tolerances for the mold base, core, connections, and other components to place the cylinder preload point in the optimal position. Preloading is as easy as threading the unit forward until the stop is contacted, threaded inward more with the cylinder vented to remove any tolerance stackup or endplay - seating the lock, retracting the cylinder to allow forward preload adjustment, and then dialing in (clockwise inward rotation) a fraction of a turn to set the preload amount.
