You’ve probably heard the theory that we’re all living inside a computer simulation. Sounds crazy but it could actually be true. If so, it means that none of us are real. Einstein himself acknowledged this and when asked if reality is real or not, said it doesn’t matter because existence only matters if it’s real to us.
I’ve been looking into the simulation theory for the last 6 years. Upon first coming across it, I was blown away but now I’ve become numb to its implications if true. Simulation theory was popularized by movies like the Matrix and the writings of Oxford Professor Nick Bostrom – who proposed that it’s extremely likely we live in a simulation. He wrote his now famous paper called The Simulation Hypothesis in 2003.
It’s notable that Elon Musk, creator of Space X, Solar City and the Hyper Loop, and recognized as one of the most innovative geniuses the world has ever seen, has stated he’s sure we’re living in a simulation. If we do actually live in a computer simulation, don’t worry. The world will go on and your life has just as much meaning as if you never knew about this theory.
