International Driving Permit - TRAVELLING OVERSEAS

In most countries you are required to have a IDP - International Drivers Permit. This Permit allows you to legally drive in another country other than your home country. The Permits are available at Automobile Clubs or Road Traffic Authorities in your country.

If you are travelling overseas and wish to hire any vehicle most Hire places will gladly hire anything to you. However, the local authorities may/may not fine you if you do not have a valid Licence and a IDP as well.

To be safe grab one before you leave on your holiday. In Australia a IDP can be purchased for $39 from each state's Automobile Club. You will need a passport sized photograph, which can also be taken by the Automobile Club for an extra fee ($10 set of 4 photographs).
