Jeni Hammond and Cindra Mielke have been swimming on Kelleys Island for more than 20 years to help make wishes come true. On Sunday, August 5, 2018, they took on Lake Erie to raise funds for Make-A-Wish® Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana!
This year, Jeni and Cindra swam to make the wishes of local kids come true. Five-year-old Anna, battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and three-year-old Ella, battling Langerhans cell histiocytosis, both wish to visit Walt Disney World®
The funds raised from this event helped wishes like Anna and Ella’s come true. And Anna and Ella were there to cheer the swimmers on after their crossing. As these fierce fundraisers swim into shore, there was a party to celebrate the with Northwest Ohio wish families.
Cindra and Jeni have raised more than $700,000 to benefit Make-A-Wish®. The Kelleys Island Benefit Swim is a heartwarming yearly event for the island community and an experience you won’t forget!
