The Meru county government is putting in place measures to increase the number of tourists visiting its attractions from the current 5,000 per year.Speaking at the Lewa conservancy where the county hosted the Food and Agricultural Organization Country representative Dr Gabriel Rugatema, the county's CEC for tourism said the county has the potential to accommodate many more tourists to the many scenic sites including the elephant corridor to Mt. Kenya. On his part, the FAO director said he would implore the organisation he heads to hold more meetings outside Nairobi in an effort to boost tourism in the county and across the country.
