With Super Bowl 53 quickly approaching we thought it would be fun to have For The Win‘s Andy Nesbitt (A Patriots fan) and Andrew Joseph (not a Patriots fan) go head-to-head in a draft in which they pick the best players from both teams. There are some surprises, including one of the QBs not being taken. Andy N: OK, let’s do this. As a Pats fan I’ll do the nice thing and give you the first pick in the Super Bowl 53 draft. Andrew J: Gee, thanks. Good thing I grew up in Atlanta and don’t have any Super Bowl heartbreak to look back on. **Cries** Are we doing this based off fantasy points? I must know how to win. Andy N: I think we should do it on guys who will have biggest impact on the game because some guys on defense could be the difference and fantasy leagues that use individual defensive players are stupid. First round Andrew J: Yeah, that makes sense. With that said, my first pick in this Super Bowl draft is Todd — err — Tom Brady, quarterback, New England Patriots. I hear he’s pretty good at this whole Super Bowl thing. I’ll have to rely on you to attest to that because I have erased all memory of Tom Brady and Super Bowls from my brain. It’s for the best. John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports Andy N: As a Patriots fan I gave you the first pick because I thought you’d do the right thing and leave the GOAT for me with the No. 2 pick. So this just got personal. I’m going to make a move here that might be a surprise to some and go with Sony Michel. He’s rushed for over 100 yards in both playoff games this year and has five TDs in the postseason. The rookie will play a huge role in a game plan that should be very much like the one they used against the Chiefs – controlling the clock early, keeping the Rams’ explosive offensive off the field, and building an early lead. So Michel will see lots of action and could even be the MVP. Second round Andrew J: Bold move picking a Georgia Bulldog in a big game. That never goes wrong. So, with my second pick, I’ll be taking (checks notes) a Georgia Bulldog in a big game. Todd Gurley. So, something weird happened in the NFC Championship. Sean McVay said that Gurley was healthy but curiously stopped playing him for much of the game. Yeah, he had a couple drops, with one resulting in a pick, but the dude is still Todd Gurley. He’s the best running back in the NFL and if he is healthy next Sunday, one would think he’d be at the form that got him 21 total touchdowns this year. The Patriots allowed 4.9 yards a rush during the regular season. I think McVay will find ways to get Gurley involved and restore that confidence. He’s too good to have a repeat of New Orleans. Andy N: Taking the Rams’ second best running back is the boldest of moves thus far. I know a certain QB is still out there but I have zero faith in that guy in this game. So I’m going with a guy who knows how to play on this stage – Julian Edelman. The little fella has 16 catches for 247 yards in their two playoff games this year and when thin
