Mark Wright has revealed he was asked to be The Bachelor back in the day. That was before he married Michelle Keegan in 2015, obviously, we hope. *Checks notes* yep, definitely before Michelle. The star was approached to become the rose-toting man after leaving reality show The Only Way Is Essex, but chose instead to head into the jungle. That’s right – Wrighty would rather deal with deadly spiders, scorpions, cold showers, no bed and rice for rations than 20 horny and women pretty keen on getting married, like, now. We can see his point. The 31-year-old turned down the chance to find his lady on the telly because he was keen to shed the so-called ‘ladies’ man’ image he’d acquired in Essex. He said: ‘They asked me to be The Bachelor about six years ago when Spencer [Matthews] or Gavin [Henson] did it… ‘I turned it down because I didn’t think it was right for me. I’d just come out of Towie and it was either that option or go into the jungle and I didn’t want to carry on that ladies man image and I wanted to peel away from it as soon as possible.’
