Today I am talking about age and gender, actually the preferred term usually is sex, as described in the AMA Manual of Style. We’ll cover two subsections. They are both in Section 2, the section on style, subsection 11 “Correct and preferred usage.” One section I will discuss is 11.5, “Age and Sex Referents”. The second is in 11.10 “Inclusive Language”, subsection 11.10.1 “Sex/Gender”. And 11.10.3 Age.
