The Red Devils became the first club in the competition’s history to recover from a two-goal deficit to progress to the quarter-finals.

Romelu Lukaku scored either side of Juan Bernat’s goal to leave the tie on a knife-edge and United were awarded a late penalty for handball, which Marcus Rashford calmly smashed home.

While the majority of United’s side headed to celebrate with matchwinner Rashford, Lukaku moved towards Angel Di Maria and appeared to celebrate in the winger’s face.

Di Maria spent less than 12 months at Old Trafford and joined PSG in 2015 for £44m, meaning United made a £15m loss on the Argentine.

The 31-year-old severed all ties with the club on his return to Old Trafford in February by celebrating in front of the home crowd after Presnel Kimpembe’s opener and shouting ‘F**k you’ to supporters.

But the Argentine was left red-faced when Rashford’s late winner sent the club crashing out of the competition and Lukaku certainly let him know all about it.
