Donald V. Watkins, Sr., was a well-known and seemingly very successful attorney in Birmingham Alabama. Some people thought he was a billionaire, especially when he tried to buy the Anaheim Angels baseball team back in 2002. Now as he and his son, Donald Watkins, Jr., are on trial. They have been charged with wire fraud, bank fraud and conspiracy to commit wire and bank fraud. Both men deny the charges.
The Watkins' trial has seen witness testimony from former Secretary of State Condeleeza Rice, a Birmingham native and former NBA star and current TNT commentator, Charles Barkley.
