On Sunday, fisheries minister D Jayakumar said the DMK’s “Operation Blue Sky” probably led to the I-T seizure of Rs 10 lakh from the Katapadi residence of Kadhir Anand, the party’s Vellore candidate and son of senior DMK leader S Duraimurugan. The minister, who is also the AIADMK spokesman, alleged that the DMK had allocated ?100 crore for each of the 20 constituencies it was contesting as part of an operation called ‘Blue Sky’. “The money has been parked with some of the important leaders of the party,” Jayakumar told reporters. “It is perhaps based on a tip about such money kept in certain places across the state that the I-T sleuths made the seizure,” said Jayakumar. Admitting that I-T sleuths took Rs10 lakh from his son’s house, DMK principal secretary Duraimurugan told TOI that it was “a weekend and the financial year-end” and the money seized was part of his son’s company’s ‘collections’. “I thought the minister was intelligent. But, now, he has shown who he is,” Duraimurugan said.
