Huawei's Kirin 985 Chip to be Produced by Tsmc

Huawei's Kirin 985 Chip to be Produced by Tsmc As always, Huawei continues to take the next generation of processors before anyone else. In the second quarter of 2019, Kirin will be in series with serial production.

According to Commercial Times, TSMC is preparing to develop 7 nm EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography) technology called 'N7 +' in order to produce a new generation of hisilicon's Kirin 985 chip. Despite ongoing EUV issues, the production process will be cheaper and faster with 7 nm processing technology.

(Huawei Mate 30 will be the first phone to use Kirin 985.)

TSMC will start producing Apple's A13 chipset shortly after the start of the mass production of the Kirin 985 (until the end of the second quarter of 2019). The chipset to be produced by the Cupertino giant will be based on a technology called 'N7 Pro'. The only thing we know about 'Pro' is that it will be an advanced version of N7 +.

As this new technology will accelerate the chipset's manufacturing process, Huawei can use this flagship processor on more smartphones. Because the company is planning to make a sales target of 250 million units by the end of 2019, it needs to continuously supply the top segment smartphones.
