Nursing and medical students at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret scampered for safety after a man heavily armed with an axe and knife attacked and killed one of the trainers at the facility. The man is reported to have carried a newly sharpened axe and a knife in a sack and waited the lady at the gate where he attacked her and tried to escape. Eyewitnesses at the hospital told Bright_M that the man hacked the lady with a sharp axe on the head near the MTRH entrance where Moi University's School of Medicine is situated. The lady is said to be a sixth year medical student at Moi University school of medicine that is situated adjacent to the referral hospital. Tuko.co.ke understands that the lady had been doing her practicals at the hospital and she had just returned from doing ward rounds before the incident. Boda boda operators chased and attacked the suspect seriously injuring him before he was rescued by the police. He is currently admitted at the facility where he is receiving medical attention. The cause of attack is not yet known though eye witnesses have attributed it to a love triangle. According to sources, the two have been dating for a while and the man had just proposed to her.
