South Africa sits at number 117 out of 149 countries in terms of Gender Wage Equality.
This despite the country ranking 19th in terms of gender equality.
Women’s lower level of education is cited as a reason for lower pay.
Associate Professor in Organisational Behaviour and Leadership at the University of Stellenbosch Business School, Anita Bosch says addressing the pay gap between men and women is an important step towards income justice for South African women.
Bosch says South African women are graduating at the same rate or better than men, in higher-paid fields such as commerce, science, engineering and technology. Anita Bosch joined us.
