The Resort Fees Of Las Vegas

The Resort Fees Of Las Vegas You’ve saved up, got time off and booked your rooms. Las Vegas is one of the top destination spots in the world. Over 42 million people visited the city in 2018. But you may need to raise your budget for travel expenses a little higher than expected. When it's time to check out that Room that cost you $130 now is nearing $190 a night.

Heres how

Resort fees date back all the way to 1997 but really started to take hold in Vegas in back in 2004 with the Station Casinos, a chain of smaller casinos around the Vegas valley. Resort fees ranged from $15 to $25. And by 2008 MGM Resorts introduced the fees charging around the same price. Adding Bellagio, Circus Circus Las Vegas

Resort fee is a pretty loose term as it's up to the hotel to decide what services they include in this resort fee. The Cosmopolitan says "We have bundled everyday essentials into one nightly charge.” In a statement from Aria their resort fee "includes amenities that are sure to enhance your experience."

But what amenities enhance our experience?

Las Vegas direct compiled 95 hotels Resort fee cost and the amenities included. The top three amenities were internet, fitness center, and in room phone calls. Boarding pass printing, newspaper, and copy/faxing services were the next highest. There was a couple of stand out amenities included in the fee. The Desert Paradise offers use of the pingpong table and the Westin Lake Las Vegas gives a free Kayak rental.

In the United States a hotel can advertise a room and display the resort/parking fees in much smaller print. This allows hotels to present a lower than actual cost of the room.

For example if you booked a room at Park MGM May 10th 2019 the room would be listed for $129. When you check out and receive your bill. You’ll notice an extra charge for $37 plus $4.95 oh and you drove here so there’s another $15 charge for parking. So that $129 a night turned into $185.95 I can’t think of another industry that can charge 44% more than the advertised rate.

All fees aside I think they can get away with it because people ultimately just wish to have a good time here.
