The patient was recently admitted to the hospital for the application of a split thickness skin graft to continue our efforts to heal the plantar ulceration.
The patient is diabetic and has other major co-morbidities which are affecting the entire patient.
What everyone will see here Is very unfortunate. These are symptoms (blisters, swelling) secondary to all the other medical problems the patient has. The ulcer on the bottom of the foot looks great otherwise.
The wife of the patient asked me yesterday if they should amputate the leg and I replied, NO!
The main problem with these cases is the emotional burden and toll that the family carries and experiences.
