Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that autonomy of Prasar Bharti is significant and it should be maintained. He met Prasar Bharati Officials for the first time after taking charge of the Ministry. He also said that Prasar Bharati must work with more efficiency and being out new policies and programmes for people at large. Earlier, the minister flagged off 17 newly acquired state of the art Doordarshan News OB vans for various cities at a function in New Delhi. On the occasion I&B secretary Amit Khare, Prasar Bharti Chairman, A surya Prakash and CEO Shashi Shekar Vempati were also present.
